Hooray for the weekend! I had a brilliant idea that I could get a little spring shopping done on Thursday. The Loft is having a sale this weekend and I wanted to check out some of their new pieces for spring. Only hitch was that my toddler had to come with me. Figured she would be okay for one errand, right? I’m sure you all know how this shopping trip turned out…Although I didn’t get to try on as much as I had hoped, I did manage to find a few cute pieces that will be great for spring. That is if it ever gets here!
Springing For Blush
Sleeveless Ruffle Top | Gold Earrings | Jeans
I’m pretty much obsessed with anything that is the color blush. It is so pretty and feminine! The Loft currently has several tops in this color. My two top picks were this ruffle shell top and tie cuff sweater below. Unfortunately they didn’t have the sweater in my size, but I ended up purchasing the same sweater in a black and white stripe, which I’ll talk about further along in this post.
I found that both tops fit true to size. The sweater is lighter weight and can be easily be layered or worn alone on warmer spring days. The ties on the sleeves give it a little extra flair, which is what drew me to it in the first place.
Black and White Tie Cuff Sweater
You can never go wrong with black and white stripes. At least, I don’t think so. Since the weather here in Portland is still pretty cold this time of year, my plan is to layer the sweater with either my jean jacket or my olive military jacket. It will also pair well with some of my lighter puffer vests. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I am a sucker for puffer vests too!
Striped Sweater | Booties | Jeans
I spy with my eyes a stroller, a coloring book, and a gold bootie behind me on the floor…My little one was back there somewhere rolling around, jumping up and down on the bench, talking really loudly, and basically getting into all kinds of mischief. It took me a good 20 minutes to try on just a few items.
Every time I take her clothes shopping with me I swear I am never going to do it again. Every. Single. Time. Yet, here I am with her again in a dressing room…
Ivory Lace Sleeveless Top
This ivory lace top was the first thing I saw when I walked into the store. So pretty, a little flirty, and not something that I typically wear – don’t have a lot of lace tops with a two year old! Since one of my goals for 2018 is to go out on monthly dates with my husband, I figured I could at least incorporate this into my date night wardrobe. Pair it with darker denim and sassy heels and it will be good for a casual night out!
A close up view of that beautiful lace…
Striped Bell Cuff Top
Another top that I really liked was this navy and white striped shirt with flowy bell sleeves. The sleeves are a little bit more dramatic than your average bell sleeve, but pretty cute. I didn’t come home with this shirt, but am thinking I may go back for it. Once spring really gets here it will look great with my white jeans. White denim has to be one of my most missed wardrobe items in the winter. With all the rain here it just isn’t possible to wear them without getting dirt and mud splattered all over the back of the legs.
If you look closely, you can see my toddler’s head behind me. I don’t even want to think about the germs she picked up crawling around in that dressing room…
Navy Striped Bell Sleeve | Jeans
At one point I had the stroller blocking the door because she kept army crawling underneath and trying to escape. Despite the fact that I came prepared with snacks, Trolls figurines, books, crayons, and phone apps to play on, nothing would distract her! This is what shopping with a toddler looks like. Which is why if you read my post on How To Survive Shopping With A Toddler, you will see why I don’t take her with me that often.
And if you are as crazy about stripes as I am, I just saw that one of my favorite striped tops from the fall is still available and super on sale! My favorite part about this top are the ruffles on the sleeves. Fun little detail without being overwhelming.
Yellow Striped Top | Booties | Jeans
The Loft also had a lot of floral print tops and dresses that I didn’t have time to try on. Here were a few that I would have tried on if my little one wasn’t out and about with me. How do you all feel about floral? I have never been a big fan of prints in general, but I really am liking some of the floral pieces I have seen in stores so far this spring. If I find the perfect top or dress, I may need to add some floral print to my wardrobe this season. You can click on the pics below for more details on each item.
So many pretty floral pieces at The Loft that I may need to swing back by and try them on. Hoping I can escape for a little bit of “me” time this weekend to do some more shopping! If you need a bit more spring inspiration, check out some of my favorite spring workout clothes. I found some super cute options that will motivate you to get moving! Anyone else doing some spring shopping this weekend?
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend, and if you have Monday off, enjoy your extra day!
Cute pieces!
Thank you Jennifer! So fun for spring (if it ever gets here!).
Great pieces. I think we have The Loft around here. I like that blush top and the lace one. Warmer weather is coming and those would be nice but those bell sleeves on the striped shirt are a show stopper!
I can’t wait until warmer weather arrives so I can wear some of these pieces! The bell sleeves on the striped shirt are pretty fun!
I’m loving the bell/ruffle sleeves this spring!
I agree Michelle! There are so many different tops and dresses out there with the bell/ruffle sleeve. Such a fun detail!
Oh my goodness, I’m obsessed with those ruffles! And that blush top!
Hi Shannon! I am pretty much a sucker for anything that is blush color!
I absolutely love that yellow and white striped shirt! All these pieces make me excited for spring.
I have had the yellow and white striped top since the fall, but a friend was wearing the same top earlier this week and said she had just bought it at the Loft for $12!! Amazing!
OMG I love spring! These pieces look great on you. Can wait to shop!
Thank you KJ! Shopping when the seasons change is one of my favorite things to do!
I love the bell sleeves, always liked the style
Hi Jasmine! Bell sleeves are such a fun detail on shirts and dresses right now! I’m seeing them everywhere!
Love blush and stripes!!!! My two favorite wardrobe choices!! haha. Great spring shopping. `
Right?? I am a sucker for both stripes and anything that is blush colored. We both have good taste! 😉
I LOVE Loft…It’s my favorite!!
Hi Holly! Mine too! I can pretty much always find something in that store to bring home with me. 😉
Love love love! Great picks. I’m all about stripes, lace, and polka dots. I have floral flats, but I don’t have a floral top yet. If I find the right top, I’ll buy a floral top. I haven’t shopped at The Loft yet, but it looks like a place I’d like.
Oh floral flats sound fun! I need to do a little spring shoe shopping, so I will have to look at some. The Loft is one of my favorites – I almost always find something I like!
So cute! I am obsessed with anything blush colored too! but seriously, props to you for taking your toddler shopping with you and managing to try on so many pieces! I never get that successful haha
Taking toddlers shopping is such a struggle, but I feel like we need to get out! However, it was the only errand we ran that day… 😉
I really like that black and white tie-cuff sweater! It looks like you found some great pieces!
Hi Kendra! I seem to always find good pieces when I go into the Loft! I am loving the tie-cuff sweater. I’m a sucker for stripes!
I absolutely adore your outfits! I want to go shopping NOW!
Thank you Tierney! Sounds like you have a plan for the weekend!!
I love the tie cuff sweater. Will check if there is any Loft store around here and have to look for that sweater XD
I don’t want to do it online cause I want to fit it first before buying. Hihi.
I totally understand! Sometimes it can be tricky buying things online. Whenever I do shop online I try to stick to places that have free shipping and returns, or a store close by to return there. Good luck!
I ordered the lace top and the pink top! I’ve got spring fever!
Hi Jamie! Oh I hope that they work out for you! I have spring fever too! Cannot wait for warmer weather!
I like that yellow striped top! That is really pretty!
Thank you Jennifer! A friend of mine just bought it in store the other day for $12!!!
